Wow, I really like this. When I saw the length of the song only being 2 minutes, I thought there's no way this can have a trancey feel, but I was wrong completely. I also like the almost Acid lead used at the 1:15 mark.

The only little critic, if you can call it that, is when the kick first comes in, it seems to drown the sound out a bit, but only when it first comes in for a couple of beats and not for the rest of the song.

Very good overall though. 9.5/10, would listen to a lot.

Thank you

Hmmm not sure what to think of this. I appreciate the effort that was clearly put into this, which was definitely a good learning experience for you so that is always a good thing. But I personally found this a bit difficult to listen to, just cause it was a bit difficult to follow what was going on. This can be a good thing for some people, but it's not really not to my taste.

However, I would say this would work quite well as background music to a futuristic platformer in a game, since it does have that kind of futuristic feel. So that's a positive that you can take. But as something to listen to out of my own good intentions, I wouldn't. I'm trying not to sound too harsh here, if I sound like a bit of a dick I'm really not trying to be.

But overall, I would give this a 6/10, would probably listen to while jumping over space robots.

SilverFoxJams responds:

Hey, thanks for your honest thoughts.

I can understand the various responses from others who give this a listen, probably because Darius Twin isn't a very well known Super Nintendo title... I think I'll edit in a link to the original version of this boss theme in the remixes description. Should have done that earlier, but I forgot. ^^;

Wow, when that first started I thought my computer was having a mental fit. Luckily, after a brief check it wasn't. I didn't know what to expect from the opening, but it actually worked quite well if the other synths put on it, so well done.

So yeah, 7.5/10, would listen to again while having a headache.

Cacola responds:

I tried to quiet that synth down a bit, but I guess I could've done to make it a bit less ear bleedy, sorry 'bout that.

Still, glad you liked it!

Ooh, this is good. I could really get down to this. There's like a perfect blend between lows and highs that really keep me interested. Initially, I thought this was going to be too short, but after listening to it I completely disregard that claim.

A little issue I have is with the kick, I think it's a bit too loud when it's first introduced which was a bit distracting. But that is something that is quite easy to miss.

All in all, very good. 9.5/10, would listen while stuck on an island.

This sounds very good, the opening especially. It seems to have a bit of a 90's sound to it, and I mean that in a good way. The same suits it well, as it's very atmospheric and almost, at least to me, feels like you're flying through space.

A little issue I have is with the middle, just seems a bit "off" is the only way to describe it, compared the end and opening. This is just my opinion though, and doesn't massively bother me.

Overall 8.5/10, would listen while flying through space.

Pi0run-V responds:

I planned to make generic trance track but I added some things inappropriate to this genre. In fact I didn't exactly know how to do trance track :( I decided to expand the melody a little more. It is possible I made a mistake there.

Anyway, thanks for your review!

That opening was absolutely amazing!! The whole use of that synth was just great and like how it panned around. There isn't really anything I disliked, but there is something I would have done differently.

To me, this felt like it needed one meaty, bassy kick to go along with it. I was disappointed the kick just wasn't what I was expecting, but then again that was probably your intention so I can't be too saddened.
Overall 4.5/5. Will send head in circles

carl565 responds:

You liked the intro? I think that's what made me like this song so much. I'm usually not too good at making intros.

You know what? Just for you in the future, I'll have to consider making my kicks heavier. It's just hard because of the fact that if I make them too punchy, they seem to really overpower the song with their bass. I could obviously EQ that, but then it makes them less punchy when you take out bass... And now you see why I never really tried messing with it in the first place, haha. I don't know, maybe I'm just overlooking it and it's not that complicated.

Thanks again for another awesome review. You never fail to make me happy, man. Have you been working on anything recently? I'll keep track of your work, but message me if you ever release anything new.

Look like I'm reviewing again haha.

I really enjoyed this, this could have easily been in Hotline Miami and it definitely captures the feel of it. When I first listened to it I didn't realise it was a loop, so was thinking for some parts that I'd definitely heard it before.

Complaints wise, I really don't have any being honest. The only one I could kinda say is the claps seemed a little bit too loud. And when I say little, I mean very marginal.

Overall, 5/5. Would listen to religiously

carl565 responds:

You sir, are a god.

Hahahaha. Seriously, I'm glad that you continue to review my music! I'll have to repay you in some way.

I am so surprised that it loops that well. I have never made a loop before, and wasn't sure if I picked the right settings. I'm very glad you liked it.

I'm pretty proud of this song/loop. I've been listening to it quite a bit since finishing it, which I normally don't enjoy doing. And yes, the clap is a little loud, but I suppose it's too late to change that.

Thanks again man!

I thought this was quite good, I especially liked the opening, and your use of snares was definitely the main good part of this track.
Mastering seemed mostly good, but it seemed a bit too loud on the lower frequencies, but that could be just my speakers.
I'm not a huge fan of the kick used here no offence. It feels a bit too deep compared to the rest of the song, and would have preferred a slightly quieter and higher kick. That's my only issue though.
So a good 4/5, would listen again. :)

carl565 responds:

Good to hear from you again!
The snare was probably my favorite part as well, because it's playing the whole time, but it makes a "sneak peek" at the end of every 8 bars.
I really did unfortunately master this one to have peaking lows... I'm constantly looking for ways to make each song sound good with my sub woofer in my car, and I cannot find a decent way of doing so.
The kick honestly is high pitched! Haha, what you're hearing is the bass line play for an eighth note over each kick. The bass line really does sound too deep, so I can agree to that as well. Also, the bass line played different pitched notes every eighth, and it just sounds distorting sometimes... Whatever though, it happens.
Thanks for reviewing yet another of my songs! I really do appreciate it, and I'm continually glad that you like both songs you've reviewed!

I thought that was really quite good. I liked how you kept the use of a consistent sound and formula throughout, and sounded atmospheric. It also is mastered quite well!!
Some little gripes I do have though is that it felt a bit like the song kept building and building but never really let go if you know what I mean? That's just me though, and if that was intended then I apologise. Also, I personally prefer the kick to be a bit heavier, but that is just my taste.
Overall though, 4.5/5. Would definitely listen again :)

carl565 responds:

I suppose that's my style to just keep building, building, and building. Sometimes, I really do break down the song to make some sort of a transition before bringing everything back together for one final time, as I did in this case. I have always told myself more is better, and in the end, that "more" should all be put together and sound good as a whole. That, to me, describes this style as best as possible.

I'm glad you thought the mastering was spot on! That was a major focus with this song, as I'm not exactly the best at mastering, and I'm always switching up my techniques to meet reviewer's expectations.

I'm even more glad you enjoyed it this much. This is honestly one of my favorites that I have made, and I love the final product of it. It was a lot of fun to be able to collab with my cousin. I wish I could do more stuff like this.

Thanks for such a detailed review. I always, always appreciate them. They are so rare to come by now. Hopefully I'll hear from you again!

Thanks again.
